Medical Device Industry Veteran Christine Horton Named Visura Chief Executive Officer

Horton joins the rapidly growing cardiology company to lead U.S. commercialization efforts

MINNEAPOLIS (March 22, 2022) —Visura Technologies, Inc., a medical device company dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art visualization solutions to improve the quality and efficiency of transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) probe intubation, announced today new leadership as Christine Horton assumes the role of president and chief executive officer. Horton joins the Visura team at a time of fast-paced growth for the company as they prepare for U.S. commercialization of their TEECAD® System. TEECAD is the world’s first FDA-cleared disposable camera that seamlessly connects to TEE probes, providing physicians with real-time visualization during esophageal intubation for more efficient and effective probe placement for the estimated 630,000 TEE procedures performed annually in the U.S.

Horton is a seasoned medical device executive who brings 30 years of commercialization expertise to the Visura team. She has led high-performing teams at start-ups and mid-sized companies, including serving as the chief executive officer of CoreSpine Technologies, a privately held spinal device company, where she successfully raised capital, formed a world-renowned medical advisory board, published data and led the company through their FDA clearance during her tenure. She has launched multiple companies and products in markets such as cardiology, orthopedics and diagnostics. She has received multiple professional awards for her leadership in the medical device industry.

“This is a pivotal time for Visura as the company prepares to deliver the TEECAD system to the U.S. market,” stated Kathy Tune, chairperson of Visura Technologies. “Christine brings extensive medtech commercialization expertise to the organization. Her success as a leader across key strategic commercial areas, along with her long-standing professional relationships, make her an asset to the growth of Visura’s business and we are fortunate to have her on the team.”

Visura’s TEECAD System is a first-of-its-kind camera addressing the challenge of the current state of using blind TEE probe intubation for imaging the heart valves and atria for procedures such as transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacement, and left atrial appendage occlusion(LAAO) device implants. The well-known pain point of blind TEE probe intubation can lead to major complications and failed intubations. Visura’s TEECAD System improves the quality and efficiency of TEE probe intubation.

As part of her new role with Visura, Horton will be presenting at MedCity Invest’s “Pitch Perfect: Care Coordination and VBC” session in Chicago on Monday, Mar. 28, from 4:10 to 6 p.m.

“Addressing the challenge of blind TEE probe intubation is important for physicians and institutions that are working toward zero-hospital acquired complications,” stated Dr. David Marmor, Visura founder and cardiologist at the Jesselson Integrated Heart Centre at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel. “At Visura, we’ve developed a simple, easy-to-use solution that eliminates the need to navigate blindly. The TEECAD device provides imaging of the esophagus and nearby structures to support first pass intubation success, giving physicians confidence during probe placement. I am thrilled to have Christine leading the Visura team as we deliver this valuable tool to clinicians and patients across the U.S.”
